How to heal a new mate (and why it matters)
A well-cured mate doesn't have rare yerba and lasts for years. We'll tell you how to do it by the material.
To heal the mate is to prepare them before using them for the first time. It serves to seal the pores from the material, to get his taste out "again" and to last far longer.

- Fill with used (or new) yerba and add hot water, with no boiling, to the edge.
- Let him rest 24 hours.
- Empty and scrape the inner skin with a spoon.
- I repeated the process two or three days in a row.
Wooden qzx0 (carob, holy stick)
- Fill with yerba and leave it 24 hours.
- Empty and let him dry face up, in an ventilated place and in the shade.
- Repeat 2 or 3 times. The first time the wood can have a little taste: it's normal.
What about ceramics, glass or steel?
They don't have to be cured: with hot water washing they are ready.
To last
- After using it, remove the yerba and let it dry: the yerba moist for hours generates mold.
- Do not wash with detergent: Natural mate absorb the smell.
- If a mold cuff appears, brush with hot water and let them dry up in the sun for a while.
