Types of bombilla: What to choose according to your yerba
Butt, spring, slots, steel, alpaca or cane. The bombilla greatly changes the mate experience.
The bombilla is half of the mate: if you cover or pass yerba, screw up the round. They are distinguished by the filter and by the material.
According to the filter
- Knife or pallet: the classic, with little holes. That's good with yerba with stems.
- Spring: A spiral that will be broken to clear. Filter fine powder very well: ideal for yerbas stemless or Uruguayan.
- Slots or chates: a tube crushed with finite slots. Easy to clear and doesn't cover at all.
According to material
- Stainless steel: the most common. It isn't oxidized, it doesn't get flavour and it's easy to clear.
- Alpaca: traditional and beautiful but dark with time. Cleans with bicarbonate.
- Rod or bamboo: light and natural and does not pass heat to the mouth, but lasts less.
To avoid cover
- Take the powder out at the yerba before they get primed.
- Clean them up and put them into hot water with bicarbonate and have a fine brush.
- If you have a really ground yerba, I chose a spring.
